Skating sports information

It's no coincidence that good skaters have powerful legs and butts - this is sport where lower body power is essential, whether skating means spinning across the ice or cruising on inlines.

Skaters will benefit most from exercise such as squats and lunges, multi-muscle exercises that build strength. You can customise them for strength or endurance by changing the weight and repetitions you do, but they should form the heart of your strength program.

As with any sport, core exercises will also be crucial, as without a strong core your limbs will not be able to perform to their maximum. This will also allow you to bend and tuck in order to harness explosive power.
