Who are Virgin Active Gyms?

'Life Centres' - this is how they are promoting their facilities. As well as the Virgin Active gyms and fitness clubs, they offer social activities, Vie shops and areas for children such as Technotown are helping them to stand out from the rest of the corporate chains.

The Virgin Active gyms right across the UK offer state of the art weight machines - using the Technogym Key System that records and monitors your workout - it even sets up the machine for your settings.

All Virgin Active clubs also have the latest CV machines and a ladies only workout area. Aerobic classes are catered for with a range of levels and class types e.g. Aerobics, Pump and Pilates. All clubs also have large sports halls offering amongst other things basketball and badminton.

Health suite-wise, there are hydrotherapy pools, sauna's and steam rooms. Following your workout, to best relax take advantage of the 'Life Library' and a caf?-bar with great health food. The 'library' is a quiet area with health-related books, music listening posts and even free Internet access. What could be better!

What's the membership fee for all of this?

There is an activation fee for all new members that is between ?35 and ?50 (?50 for London). On top of this are monthly membership fees. These will vary depending on location and whether you have full or off-peak memberships, but they start at ?30 month.
